Good evening everybody and thank you for being a part of this event today.
I am Pragya Chhajer.
I am going to showcase my collection 'Rangeelo Rajasthan' inspired from the most colourful state of India, Rajasthan, which presents a perfect combination of natural beauty, old culture, historical sites and chivalry. Its name means “the land of the rajas”. It was also called Rajputana (the country of the Rajputs); The expressions, spontaneity, exotic & bright coloured attires are all part of Rajasthani styles of dances. Rajasthani clothes have a lot of mirror work and embroidery. A Rajasthani traditional dress for females comprises an ankle-length skirt and a short top , also known as a lehenga or a chaniya choli .
I have used the intricate tye and dye technique of bandhani and Leheriya, the dabu block printed fabric, gota patti and the essence of the Rajasthani clothing such as lehenga, dhoti and turban or dupatta drapes.
My collection showcases colourful and modernised western and indowestern outfits inspired from the colours, handwork and attire of the state Rajasthan.
